CEBU PACIFIC PROMO!

been waiting for a super promo from them just like last year (christmas) when my friends and i availed their ZERO FARE promo for our trip to hongkong. everything from booking, baggage, take-off and back went smoothly, and we're very thankful. this banner's supposed to show the latest promo if it helps you:

IN THE NEWS TODAY:

LUCKY CEBUANA WINS FREE TRIPS FROM CEBU PACIFIC!
(swerte!)

MANILA, Philippines—This Cebuana’s unlucky streak finally ended on Wednesday.

Just as she was about to hop onto her flight to her home province of Cebu, Grace Geloca, who spent the last four months in Cavite as househelp, got a call from the management of Cebu Pacific who informed her that she had won a prize for being the air carrier's 36 millionth passenger.

Cebu Pacific gave her a year-long travel pass which entitles her to free trips to destinations covered by the country's foremost budget carrier. On top of this, she also got her old job back and even brushed elbows with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Geloca, 19, met Arroyo face to face when the President graced Cebu Pacific's first anniversary of operations out of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (Naia-3).

“This is not transferable to your boyfriend,” Arroyo teased the giggling Geloca as the President handed her the prize. Arroyo and Geloca stood on the stage with JG Summit chair emeritus John Gokongwei and his son, Cebu Pacific president and chief executive Lance Gokongwei.

Wearing an orange pantsuit, the President interviewed Geloca, who shared a bit of her story as househelp in Cavite.

Geloca told Arroyo that she had been laid off in Cebu as a machine worker. She flew to Manila to look for another job but ended up as a house maid in Cavite.

“It was also her first time to ride an airplane four months ago,” Arroyo told the audience when she asked Geloca if her flight home aboard Cebu Pacific was her first flight experience.

The President said the Cebuana teenager had to leave her hometown in Carcar because she got laid off from the company she was working for. Geloca told Arroyo that sales were probably slow and that's why a lot of people including her got the pink slip.
But the company called up Geloca recently to inform her that she could have her old job back, the President said.

Arroyo wished Geloca well, telling her “good luck to your new phase in life,” before stepping off the stage after a photo opportunity and proceeding to her waiting convoy outside the departure area of Terminal 3.

YAHOO NEWS MANILA - The Philippines will witness a partial solar eclipse on July 22, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday. The state weather bureau said the path of the moon's umbral shadow will begin in India and is expected to cross Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Central China, the Pacific Ocean, Ryukyu Island, Marshal Island and Kiribati.

It said a partial eclipse will be witnessed in several parts of the Philippines including Metro Manila, Calayan Island, Laoag City, Tuguegarao City, Baguio City, Angeles City in Pampanga, Puerto Princesa in Palawan, Lucena City, Naga City, Iloilo, Cebu, Zamboanga, Sulu, Davao and General Santos City.

PAGASA said the eclipse will start in Metro Manila at exactly 8:33:01 a.m. The eclipse's full visibility will be seen at 9:43 a.m. and will end at 11:01:51 a.m. Other areas in the globe that will witness partial solar eclipse are those in eastern Asia and the Pacific Ocean. The weather bureau, meanwhile, cautioned spectators to avoid directly looking at the eclipse without safety eye devices.

It said people can cover their eyes with X-ray films, sun glasses, smoked glass and photographic films and negatives. It said the safest method to view the eclipse is by indirect viewing "like projecting the image with a pinhole camera."

BAGYO ngayong july - FERIA

hanep. kahapon sobrang init tapos biglang nagdilim ang paligid. biglang may BAGYO na!

Nangka is its international name.

Packing winds of up to 83 kilometers (52 miles) an hour—with gusts of up to 102 kilometers (63 miles)—the storm brought floods, landslides, and power cuts across small islands in the center of the archipelago.

source: gmanews.tv
a fisherman in cebu/samar islands drowned and his six mates are missing. maraming na ring nasirang bahay at isang school. bukas, huwebes, inaasahang aalis na ang bagyo papuntang south china sea. sana nga.

ang hirap ng may bagyo. but it's the earth's way of balancing itself. moving the lands, clearing the fields, reshaping its surfaces on its own. and nobody can stop these "changes" from occuring. so help us God.

ARAW NG MGA TATAY

papa, papi, tatay, itang, ama, amang, dad, daddy, father, padir... kahit ano pa mang tawag natin sa mga haligi ng tahanan... HAPPY FATHER'S DAY po!

father's day is celebrated every 3rd sunday of june. here's the history:

HISTORY OF FATHER'S DAY

Father's Day is a celebration inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting, and to honour and commemorate fathers and forefathers. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, special dinners to fathers, and family-oriented activities.

The first observance of Father's Day is believed to have been held on July 5, 1908 in a church located in Fairmont, West Virginia, by Dr. Robert Webb of West Virginia at the Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South of Fairmont.[1] [2] The church still exists under the name of Central United Methodist Church.

Sonora Smart Dodd of Washington thought independently of the holiday one Sunday in 1909 while listening to a Mother's Day sermon at the Central Methodist Episcopal Church at Spokane,[3] and she arranged a tribute for her father on June 19, 1910. She was the first to solicit the idea of having an official Father's Day observance to honor all fathers.

It took many years to make the holiday official. In spite of support from the YWCA, the YMCA and churches, it ran the risk of disappearing from the calendar.[4] Where Mother's Day was met with enthusiasm, Father's Day was met with laughter.[4] The holiday was gathering attention slowly, but for the wrong reasons. It was the target of much satire, parody and derision, including jokes from the local newspaper Spokesman-Review.[4] Many people saw it as just the first step in filling the calendar with mindless promotions like "Grandparents' Day", "Professional Secretaries' Day", etc., all the way down to "National Clean Your Desk Day."[4]

A bill was introduced in 1913,[5] US President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea in 1924,[citation needed] and a national committee was formed in the 1930s by trade groups in order to legitimize the holiday.[6] It was made a federal holiday when President Lyndon Johnson issued a proclamation in 1966.

In addition to Father's Day, International Men's Day is celebrated in many countries, most often on November 19.
